At one time, warning Americans that the next 9/11 attack would be an American Hiroshima attack was hard for ordinary Americans to believe. Currently, Senators, Congressmen, investigative reporters, al Qaeda leaders, U.S. military leaders and several authors are on record that the American Hiroshima threat must be taken seriously.Osama bin LadenFor years Osama bin Laden has stated publicly that the United States remains to be punished for using atomic weapons in Japan. In May of 1998 Osama bin Laden issued a statement called "The Nuclear Bombs of Islam" in which he said: "It is the duty of Muslims to prepare as much force as possible to terrorize the enemies of God." This was confirmed during an ABC interview with John Miller on May 24, 1998. In a December 1999 interview with Time magazine Osama bin Laden indicated he had a nuclear weapon (likely a very crude dirty bomb). In a November 2001 interview with Hamid Mir, a Pakistani journalist, bin Laden said "We have chemical and nuclear weapons." Supporting the "dirty bomb only" theory, in November 2001, Al Qaeda plans in Arabic, German, Urdu and English for a dirty nuclear bomb were discovered. The plans were obtained in a U.S. raid of a house in the Wazir Akbar Khann neighborhood.Al Qaeda's Second-in-Command Ayman al-ZawahriAyman al-Zawahri was described by journalist Hamid Mir as "the real brain behind Osama bin Laden." Mir also observed that "he is the real strategist, Osama bin Laden is only a front man...I think he is more dangerous than bin Laden." Al-Zawahri, an Egyptian surgeon, was quoted by Mir as saying "Al Qaeda has never hidden its interest in acquiring nuclear weapons." This statement is supported by U.S. federal charges against bin Laden claiming that since 1992 he and other Al Qaeda members have attempted to acquire nuclear weapons. Al Qaeda's Former Third-in-Command Mohammed Al-Asuquf'sAl-Asuquf was asked in a 2004 interview with Al Jazeera how Al Qaeda intend to destroy the most powerful nation in history. The following is a brief portion of this interview. Click here for the full Al Jazeera interview. Al-Asuquf: It's a question of logistics. Using its own poison, that is, attacking the heart of what they consider the most important thing in the world: money. Al-Jazeera: How so? Al-Asuquf: The American economy is an economy of false appearances. There is no real economic ballast to the American economy. The American GDP of is something around $10 trillion, of which just 1 percent represents agriculture, and just 24 percent represents industry. Therefore, 75 percent of the American GDP is service and most of this is financial speculation. For those who understand economics, and it appears that the American Secretary of the Treasury, Paul O'Neil, doesn't or doesn't see it, it's enough to say that the USA acts like a huge "dot-com," and dollars, strictly speaking, are its shares. Al-Jazeera: Can you explain that? Al-Asuquf: The value of a company's shares is directly proportional to the profitability of the enterprise. When a business is just a service provider and doesn't produce any durable goods, the value of its shares depends on its credibility. Which is to say that if the credibility of the USA were shaken, its shares (the dollar) would fall with incredible rapidity and the entire American economy would begin to collapse. Al-Jazeera: How can you be so sure of this? Al-Asuquf: On a smaller scale, it's exactly what large financial groups do to the countries of the third world to reap profits in one month that Swiss banks couldn't get in four or five years Al-Jazeera: So how will Al Qaeda shock the American economy to this point? Al-Asuquf: By provoking a deficit of between $50 and $70 trillion dollars, the equivalent of the United States' GDP for five to seven years. Al-Jazeera: How will this be done? Al-Asuquf: With the destruction of the seven largest American cities, along with other measures. Al-Jazeera: By what means will this be done? Al-Asuquf: Using atomic bombs. Senator Sam Nunn and NTI's Last Best Chance videoThe Last Best Chance is based on actual U.S. intelligence and specifically warns that Osama bin Laden has been working on developing a nuclear bomb for over ten years. The attack, called American Hiroshima, is described in this important wake up call for American. Last Best Chance was produced by Aaron Goddard and directed by Ben Goddard in 2005. The Nuclear Threat Institute is distributing The Last Best Chance video for free. To obtain the video, visit www.lastbestchance.org.Harvard Professor Graham AllisonGraham Allison explains that Osama bin Laden has called his next and much bigger 9/11 attack the American Hiroshima attack. This is described on page 12 of his book Nuclear Terrorism: The Ultimate Preventable Catastrophe (published by Henry Holt & Company, LLC, in 2004). Graham Allison is the founding dean of Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. He cites: Massimo Calabresi and Romesh Ratnesar, “Can We Stop the Next Attack?,” Time, 11 March 2002 as a source for his American Hiroshima warnings. He also cites: David Johnston and James Risen, “Traces of Terrorism: The Intelligence Reports; Series of Warnings,” New York Times, 17 May 2002.Allison was asked if the American Hiroshima attack would happen. His response, "Bet on it. Yes."Congressman Curt WeldonCongressman Curt Weldon wrote Countdown To Terror: The Top-Secret Information That Count Prevent The Next Terrorist Attack On America…And How The CIA Has Ignored It to warn of the next 9/11 attack. Congressman Weldon is the Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. His book, published by Regnery Publishing in 2005 has specific warnings of a nuclear terrorist attack on pages 6, 9, 19, 63, 83, 91, 94,95 and 103. He also breaks ranks with the classified community to reveal that terrorists tried to fly a plane from Canada into the Seabrook Nuclear Reactor in August 2003. This American Hiroshima attempt would have exposed 89 million Americans to radiation poisoning. His source, named "Ali", claims the attack code name is "12th Imam operation" or “Ya Mahdi, Ad Rekni!” which translates as an appeal to the twelfth imam by his familiar name: “Mahdi, Save Us!”As additional background on this first American Hiroshima attempt, Weldon observes that in August 2003 a terrorist cell composed of Muslim males eighteen to thirty-three years old was arrested in Toronto. All the men were from Pakistan with the exception of one Indian. The terrorists had been undergoing pilot training in Canada. They were practicing flying over a Canadian nuclear reactor and making visits on the ground to the reactor, seemingly to familiarize themselves with a similar target in the United States. The terrorists were planning to attack the Seabrook Nuclear Reactor, located in a populous region just forty miles from Boston. The resulting explosion and fire would have caused a poisonous radioactive cloud covering thousands of square miles, as happened after the accident at Chernobyl in the Soviet Union almost two decades ago. The objective was to inflict a blow more catastrophic than the attacks of September 11 by inflicting perhaps hundreds of thousands of casualties from radiation poisoning, and rendering one of the United States’ most populous areas uninhabitable. On page 19 of his book he writes "My hope is this book will make you angry, angry enough to act, and save American lives." On page 91, Weldon notes that while the August 2003 attack would have been a major catastrophe, "...the failed plan to attack the Seabrook Nuclear Reactor is not the 12th Imam operation. Another, unknown, attack is planned." The 12th Imam operation is unlikely to be an aircraft crashing into a nuclear facility as a small nuclear bomb exploding at a nuclear facility is the ultimate catastrophic attack. On page 94-95 and Weldon confirms that Iran and Al Qaeda are collaborating. "From Iran’s coordination committee, Al Qaeda has got a green light for a terrorist attack on the United States, bigger than 9/11." Al Qaeda Spokesperson Suleiman Abu GheithOsama bin Laden’s official spokesman, Suleiman Abu Gheith, announced in 2002 in the London newspaper al-Sharq al-Awsat, “We have the right to kill four million Americans–two million of them children–and to exile twice as many and wound and cripple hundreds of thousands.” Al-Sharq al-Awsat reported that the article entitled"Why We Fight America," had previously appeared in the Al-Mujahiddeen.The announcement, especially the reference to children, can be better understood by adding the number of Muslim children killed since the Gulf War. Abu Gheith calculates economic sanctions and American bombings have killed over a million Muslim children. While the exact number is unknown and is continuing to increase with the war in Iraq, the United Nations has acknowledged the deaths of over 500,000 children from economic sanctions. 9/11 Operations Planner Khalid Shiek MohammedKhalid Sheikh Mohammed was interviewed by Al Jazerra about his leadership role in the 9/11 attacks prior to being captured in March of 2003. He revealed that nuclear facilities were removed by Osama bin Laden “for now” against the wishes of other al Qaeda leaders. The terrorist chief said Osama bin Laden's goal was to create a "nuclear hell storm" like the 1945 blast in Hiroshima that killed 140,000 Japanese. He was not allowed to speak with the 9/11 Commissioners (see Chapter 5 in the 9/11 Report) which some people believe is because the 9/11 report would have had to include what was known about the next 9/11 or American Hiroshima attack.Author Paul L. WilliamsHe wrote a book on the American Hiroshima attack called Osama's Revenge: The Next 9/11.This book was published in 2004 by Prometheus. His book has dozens of reports that Al Qaeda has purchased on the black market the materials needed to construct a nuclear weapons.Congressman Tom Tancredo, Republican - ColoradoRep. Tancredo asked the Justice Department for a briefing on Al Qaeda's American Hiroshima attack in July 2005. An article describing this request is available at:http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45246.Reporter Nicholas D. KristofNicholas Kristof, published the article “An American Hiroshima” on 11 August 2004. The article was published in the New York Times. Indirect but unfortunately very "direct" American Hiroshima warnings follow:Former CIA Director George TenetIn October of 2002 he said: "The threat environment we face is as bad as it was before September 11. It is serious. They have reconstituted. They are coming after us. Former Attorney General John Ashcroft"Nuclear Terrorism Greatest Threat,” Associated Press, 28 January 2005. Ashcroft also noted, “If you were to have nuclear proliferation find its way into the hands of terrorists, the entire world might be very seriously disrupted by a few individuals who sought to impose their will, their arcane philosophy, on the rest of mankind.” Al Qaeda Planning Lieutenant Abu al-Bara'a al-QarshyIn November 2003 he warned "...the painful blow is on the way. It will be sweeping, and with God's help and signs recognized by those who believe in their hearts in jihad and the Mujahadeen."Iranian Defense Minister Ali ShamkhaniIran’s Defense Minister, Ali Shamkhani' quote in January 2005 is “We can claim that we have rapidly produced equipment that has resulted in the greatest deterrent.” Paul Hughes, “Iran Says It Has Military Might to Deter Any Attack,” Reuters, 18 January 2005. Former Executive Chief of U.S. Strategic Weapons General Eugene E. HabigerBill Keller, “Nuclear Nightmares,” New York Times Magazine, 26 May 2002. General Habiger, the retired four-star general who ran the anti-terror program until 2001, stated “it is not a matter of if; it’s a matter of when.” Keller noted “that, may explain why he now lives in San Antonio.” For more information or to contact the author, please send a message to ddionisi@sbcglobal.net. |
